A full day, hands-on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) masterclass for Higher and Advanced Higher Biology students at high school or college. Working with scientists from across the University of Edinburgh's Easter Bush Campus, you will use cutting-edge equipment to extract your own DNA and analyse it using PCR, restriction enzyme digestion and DNA gel electrophoresis. The workshop will also include a chance to talk to our scientists about their work and career paths, and take a tour of the Campus. Learning Level: Higher, Higher Human and Advanced Higher Biology pupils, S5, S6 or college students (+16 years old only) Location: Easter Bush Science Outreach Centre, University of Edinburgh Easter Bush Campus, EH25 9RG. It has also helped my understanding of PCR! Higher Biology Pupil It allowed me to use a different variety of equipment and gave me the opportunity to learn more advanced science knowledge. It was also different as it allowed me to participate in a different and lengthier experiment! Higher Biology Pupil This article was published on 2024-09-02
